Word from the Director

Prof. Ali Gharsallah

Dear Colleagues,

Dear members of the Microwave Electronics Research Laboratory,

As you know, the activities of our laboratory are mainly focused on the development and design of smart antennas, the applications of RFID systems, and everything related to electromagnetic modeling. Linearization of RF amplifiers, sensor networks for IoT applications, and graphene-based circuits are also within the scope of our laboratory. The scientific benefits of these activities can be exploited in various fields such as agriculture, health, and transport. It is with pride that we can say that we have benefited throughout these years from the trust of our foreign partners, and of course, gained national recognition, but also international recognition, and this through several high-level bilateral scientific collaborations including with France, Italy, Belgium, Canada, India and South Africa.

On the teaching side, our laboratory is involved in modules closely related to research. These are provided as part of LMD courses, i.e. Masters in EEA and Telecommunications, as well as doctoral training in Electrical Engineering.

Since 2005, our laboratory has seen a strong development in its equipment resources thanks to the equipment budgets allocated by the supervisory authorities, knowing that we continue to work constantly to strengthen our current resources.

The laboratory is governed by a board responsible for ensuring the smooth running of its research activities and all matters relating to the allocation of its human and material resources.

In addition, we have been planning weekly presentations regularly for several years. These presentations reveal the main advances of researchers, whether at the Master's or PhD level, thus promoting teamwork. The laboratory then becomes a place of exchange and reflection so that research is within the reach of all its members, who also have the chance to benefit from certain training, particularly relating to the good mastery of simulation tools.

Our laboratory now has more than a hundred articles published in internationally renowned journals, but also numerous published papers showing the active participation of our researchers in several national and international congresses. On the other hand, the laboratory has nearly a hundred doctoral theses and a dozen university habilitations defended.

Finally, I hope that we will continue to excel and keep pace with scientific and technological progress, firstly for the influence of our laboratory, but also the general interest of our country.
